Fashion forward at Dulaney High School

Seniors Tatum Gordon and Hannah Harpster share their funky style insights.

Gordon and Harpster express their love for funky pants and sweaters as they talk about what they wear on a day to day.

Q: Do you have any style inspirations?

A: Yeah my sister, my older sister. She is really good at thrifting and she helps me buy a lot of my clothes.

Thrifting is a cheap and fun way to find different types of vintage and modern clothes. Gordon knows just what she’s looking for when she goes into a thrift store.

Q: Do you have a specific fashion statement that pulls your outfits together?
A: I like to do a super fun sweater, t-shirt or cool pants because I feel like something has to pop out. Then I’d pair it with something plain or casual with one of those. You can’t have both top and bottom to pop, just one.

Harpster takes fashion back decades, drawing inspiration from George Harrison and Kurt Cobain to channel her inner hippie. It is unique to see the hippie style these days, but Harpster makes it happen through baggy jeans and tons of jewelry.

Q:  How would you describe your style?

A: …a good mix of 70s and 60s bell-bottom disco, things trending back then. Then now also very much of a hippie aspect, whether it is patchwork pants/sweatshirts.
