Horticulture transforms Dulaney

As the weather gets warmer, Dulaney High School’s (DHS) Horticulture class is getting ready with fun plants and ideas.

Horticulture students have been designing new projects regarding summer seasonal plants. Horticulture teacher John Enders allows his students to put plants around the school.

“Our areas of focus are in the main office, around the front of the school. Then the courtyard where people eat lunch,” said Enders

Additionally, the mothers day sale will be May 8th-10th for students to purchase different bouquets of flowers to take home to their mom’s. Students put plants in old cups, old takeout containers, and items from the dollar store and goodwill. Overall, the horticulture’s class goal is for DHS’s community to be appealing and clean.

“We are doing school clean ups, picking up trash. I would ask participation from the general community to help by picking up trash anywhere in Baltimore county and then log it in to the website called Clean Green 15,” said Enders.

Students are also preparing for spring by creating fairy gardens and terrariums. The class is also finding additional ways to clean up the courtyard of DHS.

“There are all of these umbrellas that are in a storage closet somewhere that they bought years ago and we are going to find them and put them out and decorate and make the school look beautiful,” said Enders.

Whether students take the class or participate in the club, Enders expresses he is looking forward to the upcoming student creations.
