Sponsored by art teacher Christopher Marsico, the National Art Honors Society (NAHS) has revived the Dulaney tradition of painting school lockers following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Senior Shu Leong, NAHS president, has been part of the club for two years.

“Throughout the years of National Arts we’ve been painting the lockers so we decided to paint them again,” said Leong.

The art hallway currently features lockers painted by the NAHS.

“Next year the new officers will be painting the lockers in the psychology and social studies hallway,” said Leong.

NAHS, alongside locker painting, was reinstated two years ago by Leong and NAHS Vice President Mariam Darraj. Future plans for painting the lockers include painting frames around the preexisting artwork and organizing hallways to paint next school year. Each locker mural takes a few weeks to complete due to the club’s limited meetings and each member’s comfortability with painting.

The purpose of painting the lockers is to display the artists skills to the school and serve as a bonding activity for the club.
