Principal Samuel Wynkoop encourages Dulaney High School (DHS) parents to attend Coffee with the Principal on Nov. 16 so they can ask questions, share ideas and voice concerns about the community.

DHS’ Coffee with the Principal takes place annually during American Education Week, a week-long observance honoring students, teachers and parents. Sponsored by the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), this event is a chance for DHS parents to introduce themselves to Dulaney’s principal and build relationships with others in the school community.

“It’s just an opportunity for when parents are coming in to visit their children’s classes, they can start by sitting with me and each other to have coffee and ask questions,” says Wynkoop.

Wynkoop hopes parents will “gain perspective” from attending Coffee with the Principal as he “gains connection” with the DHS community.

PTSA president and current Parent Education & Legislative Chair for the PTSA, Yara Chikh, shares her insight into the event.

“Oftentimes, parents suggest programs they would like to see implemented…Mr. Wynkoop explains those changes, and it is a very fun morning where the casual nature allows for a level of frankness and camaraderie that is a great tradition at Dulaney,” says Chikh.

As far as refreshments, Wynkoop says the PTSA will provide single-serve Keurig coffee pods as well as breakfast and coffee from Dunkin Donuts.

The event will take place in the school library and doors will be open from 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
