On Saturday, April 15, the Dulaney Model United Nations club (Model UN) hosted an event in the DHS satellite cafeteria for middle school students. Fifty-six students attended from Ridgely, Cockysville and Dumbarton middle schools. The event was from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Led by Michelle Wang, President of Model UN, officers and members of Model UN prepared for this conference for months by advertising and assembling country matrices and topics for the middle school students. They first listened to a training presentation and participated in ice breaker activities. They then divided into smaller groups of three separate committees where they debated the topics of Access to Education and Response to Civil unrest. Free pizza, snacks and drinks were provided. The event was beginner-friendly to teach middle school students about Model UN and public speaking. They learned how to write resolutions, debate them and use parliamentary procedures. The event was a big success thanks to the Dulaney Model UN club.
