Dulaney students share popular dress shops and styles for upcoming school dances.

The most popular store amongst the students is Windsor in the Towson Mall, according to  sophomores Carmen Spruill and Madison Gengler, junior Kimberely Hernandez and senior Kayla Goggans.

Although different grades go to different dances such as sophomore Ring Dance, Junior Prom and Senior Prom, a majority of tenth and eleventh grade girls agreed that they would wear short dresses to their respective dances, while the 12th graders lean towards floor-length dresses.

”I’m going to wear a longer dress because I feel like usually for prom you wear longer and then junior prom shorter,” said senior Natalie Wheatley.

80 percent of students interviewed said they liked shopping in-store better.

“I prefer in-store, online is hard because the sizing is weird,” says sophomore Yasmina Masri.

“Usually I have to shop online and I will buy like a few and just return once they don’t work out,” says Wheatly.

Students who prefer online stores reported shopping on Amazon, Shein, Lucy in the Sky, Lulus and Hello Molly.

When asked about current trends, sophomores Madison Gengler and Phoenix Swanson both responded with ‘bodycon’ fitted dresses. Other trends include silk dresses, sparkly dresses and thrifted styles.

Time frames for dress purchases tend to vary. Some students report waiting until one or two weeks before the dance, while others purchase dresses as far as two months in advance.
