Kickoff winter with ice skating, holiday lights and winter sports.

It’s officially time to pull out winter coats from closets and prepare for below-freezing temperatures. Below are three ideas to spend time with loved ones this holiday season.

Ice skating at The Avenue

Enjoy a day of ice skating at The Avenue in White Marsh, open Monday through Thursday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Surrounded by several high-rated restaurants, holiday decorations and mall shops, the White Marsh ice skating rink welcomes all ages. They also offer hourly skate rentals and kid-friendly assistance walkers.

Visit the Hampden lights

Celebrating their 74th year of operation, The Miracle on 34th Street is now showcasing their annual winter light display. The Hampden neighborhood, located in the Baltimore area, decorates each house with a vibrant, eye-catching theme. Up until New Year’s Day on January 1st, the lights come on Sunday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Snow day at Liberty Mountain Resort

Liberty Mountain Resort’s slopes are officially open for the season, located in Fairfield, PA. Despite the short road trip, enjoy a day full of skiing, snowboarding or tubing. Open Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Liberty Mountain Resort offers rentals and lessons to all ages.
