Students in Dulaney’s horticulture program keep up with gardening and landscaping around the building while also studying their environment.

The focus of Horticulture is to study and practice plant cultivation. The class has a big role in keeping all the plants on Dulaney High School grounds. Students in the class enjoy helping around the school and some even attend the Horticulture club after school.

First-year Horticulture student Caroline Bowden expresses how much she enjoys the class.

“I love helping the school maintain its beauty by taking care of the plants. It’s also a very hands-on class which is also really enjoyable,” says Bowden.

Horticulture instructor John Enders teaches about the history of plants as well as the plant propagation. Students enjoy field trips to Ladew Gardens and Valley View Farms that showcase several career paths in the green industry.

Dulaney is one of the only schools in BCPS that still offers Horticulture class in high school.
