Easy to make recipes: Molten Lava Chocolate Cake

Cassie Weymouth, Editor-in-chief

Now this recipe is a showstopper. Though the process is a bit more complex, I can guarantee that the results are worth it. If you are a chocolate lover then this is the recipe for you. To further elevate this dish you could even whip up some homemade whip cream.

Ingredients-

  • 1 stick (4 ounces) unsalted butter
  • 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees then butter and lightly flour four six-ounce ramekins. Then in a double boiler over simmering water melt the butter with the chocolate. In a bowl, beat the eggs with the egg yolks, sugar and salt at high speed until thickened and pale. Whisk chocolate until smooth. Fold in egg mixture along with flour fast enough so the eggs don’t scramble. Pour batter into ramekins and bake for 12 minutes or until the sides are firm. Let cool for one minute then cover with a plate and carefully flip and let stand for 10 seconds before removing ramekin. Serve immediately.
