The morning of Jan. 2, Dulaney students returned to a very cold building.

At 7:38 a.m., before the start of the school day, an email was sent to the staff about the broken heat. When classes began, most classroom temperatures ranged from 53 to 61 degrees. Parents called to complain and were told it would be fixed soon. As of 12:35 p.m., work to fix the system was still in progress. A maintenance crew was sent out to “bleed the air out of the system,” said Assistant Principal Robert Murray.

According to Murray, this usually happens after a long break.

As of 1:07 p.m., the temperature was still uncomfortably cold in classrooms.
