Got Pets? Welcome to the Dulaney Pet Gallery

Madelena Lapinski, News Editor

Imagine walking around the building, hearing the flap of wings brush past your ear, the tap of claws on the tile, barking down the hall and reptiles basking by the windows. Unfortunately, Dulaney has no day for pet show-and-tell, so maybe this will be the best substitute. Open the doors and cut the bright red ribbon with comically large scissors – welcome to the Dulaney pets gallery.

Meet Muffin, a 10-month-old golden retriever! Senior Arshdeep Kaur says Muffin is too friendly for his own good – he loves to socialize! And how could you not give him a few pets- look at this award winning smile! He also loves to steal socks, which almost makes him more endearing. You can keep up with Muffin @muffin_0506 on Instagram.

Thompson!
(Dulaney Griffin/Chris Esslinger)

Say hi to Thompson, senior Chris Esslinger’s eight-year-old Hemingway cat. Unlike a stereotypical cat, Thompson loves water. That’s not the only thing that makes him unique, though. If you go to give Thompson a high paw, you’ll be met with six toes on each foot. Go give your friends a ‘high six’ in Thompsons honor!

We’re keeping things sweet with Sugarmunch, a lionhead rabbit, who also goes by Sugarcrunch, Munch and Thumper. Munch is full of two’s: he is two years old, has two different colors in his fur and two different colored eyes. Freshman Joyana Chapple says Munch is also very well traveled, having been to over six states. Like his name suggests, he’s always munching; his favorite treat is bananas. Nice to meet you Sugarmunch!

This is Sandy, senior Jessica Graziano’s Chow, German Shepherd and Labrador mix. Sandy is nearly 11 years old, but still has the energy of a puppy when she bursts into the zoomies! Ever felt like you couldn’t be around other people but never tire of pets? Sandy agrees! She’s feisty towards other dogs and animals, but a sweetheart to humans! I’m glad we all have Sandy’s approval.

Hello Willow! This sweet American Guinea Pig is a little over two years old. In her years she has become well known for eating everything in her path, and freshman Maya Weiner warns friends to ‘watch their fingers’ around Willow. Despite that, She is very energetic and loves to cuddle (though sometimes that requires food incentive too). Stay up to date with Willow’s adventures @piggies_and_buddy on Instagram.

This adorable rescue is a nine year old Jack Russell and Chihuahua mix named Chaser. He loves to lay in the hamper and play with his favorite stuffed donut that was won in an arcade. Unlike other dogs, Chaser seldom barks, rather he grunts. Senior Cassidy Siegel says his puppy dog eyes are hard to resist when begs for food. See more of him @chasersiegel on Instagram.

High fives for Nebula, a three-year-old shorthair cat. Nebs knows many tricks, including high and low fives, how to shake and sit. But, senior Prado Layeska says Nebs only does it for a treat, and how could you not give her one! When she’s not showing off, Nebs loves to sleep and play with bottle caps. Watch her tricks @tochiandnebulaprado on Instagram.

(Dulaney Griffin/Drew Duncan)

Look at that beautiful smile! Sage, who has many nicknames including tookie, sagey pot pie and little butt, is a one-year-old rescue pitbull staffordshire terrier mix. As you can tell from the picture, Sagey is a model who loves the camera! Her favorite sets are the campaign for a dog toy company and family holiday photos. She also loves to play dress up; her favorite was a halloween costume as a bottle of rootbeer. Senior Drew Duncan says Sage is full of energy and will play until she drops, literally falling asleep mid bark. To see more of her photoshoots, follow @staffy_sage on Instagram.
