NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Two New Brunswick drivers were injured early Sunday after their cars crashed head-on on Jersey Avenue near Triangle Road, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
The wreck happened around 2:47 a.m. and involved a 2009 Toyota Corolla and a 2017 Honda Accord. Investigators said both vehicles were traveling on Jersey Avenue when they collided.
The Corolla driver, a 26-year-old New Brunswick man, suffered serious injuries. The Accord driver, a 25-year-old New Brunswick man, had minor injuries.
Crash happened before dawn on Jersey Avenue
Emergency crews responded to the scene after the vehicles struck each other head-on near Triangle Road. The crash took place in the early-morning hours, when traffic is typically light but visibility can still be limited.
Officials have not said what caused the collision. The investigation remains open, and prosecutors have not released additional details about the sequence of events leading up to impact.
For now, the confirmed facts are limited to the time, location and the two cars involved. Police and prosecutors have not identified any other vehicles or contributing factors.
Both drivers were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital
After the crash, both men were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment. The 26-year-old driver in the Toyota was reported to have the more serious injuries.
The 25-year-old driver of the Honda was hurt as well, but officials described those injuries as minor. Authorities did not release further information about either man’s condition later Sunday.
Because the crash remains under investigation, officials have not said whether speed, distraction, impairment or another factor played any role.
