When police got there, they found a man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died a short time later.

Officers were called just after 8 a.m. to the 3900 block of Michigan Avenue
The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department said the call came in shortly after 8 a.m. Monday. Officers responded to a home in the 3900 block of Michigan Avenue after a report of a shooting.
That address was quickly secured as investigators began working the scene. Photos from the area showed crime scene tape around one house and a heavy police presence nearby.
Police have not released the victim’s name. They also have not said how long he had been inside the home before officers arrived.
Police say an argument led to gunfire inside the home
Detectives said early findings point to an argument between two people that escalated into gunfire. That is the account police are using as they piece together what happened inside the house.
Authorities did not say what the argument was about or whether the people involved knew each other. They also have not described the relationship, if any, between the man who died and the person taken into custody.
The homicide investigation remains open, and police are still working to confirm the sequence of events that led to the shooting.
One person was taken into custody as investigators secured the scene
Police said one person was detained at the scene after the shooting. At this point, detectives are not searching for any additional suspects.
That detail suggests investigators believe they have the key person or people involved, though police have not announced any charges. No court information was provided in the initial update.
As with many homicide cases, investigators will likely continue gathering statements, physical evidence, and any other information that helps explain how the confrontation turned deadly.
The fatal shooting adds another violent episode to a city neighborhood
The shooting unfolded in a residential stretch of Kansas City, where neighbors saw a large emergency response surrounding the home. The visible police presence and taped-off property underscored how quickly the scene turned into a homicide investigation.
Police did not immediately release any information about possible witnesses or whether other homes in the area were affected. They also did not say whether there had been any prior calls to the address.
For now, the case centers on a domestic or personal dispute that police say turned deadly inside the house before officers arrived.
What police have and have not said so far
Investigators have confirmed a fatal shooting, a possible argument between two people, and one arrest at the scene. They have also said no additional suspects are being sought.
Still, major details remain unanswered. Police have not identified the victim, released the name of the person detained, or said what weapon was used.
They also have not said when more information might be made public. For now, the Kansas City Police Department is treating the case as a homicide and continuing the investigation.
