Arkansas State Police Investigate Fatal Early Morning I-430 Crash Near Little Rock After 36-Year-Old Woman Was Struck and Killed

LITTLE ROCK, AR — Arkansas State Police are investigating a deadly crash on Interstate 430 after a 36-year-old woman was struck and killed in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police said the woman was found near the 5-mile marker on I-430 after she was hit by a vehicle. The collision happened before daylight, and investigators have not released additional details about how the crash unfolded.

A suspected driver has been identified, according to police, but that person has not been arrested or charged.

Woman found near the 5-mile marker on Interstate 430

The location of the fatal crash places the investigation on a busy stretch of interstate just outside the city center. Police said the woman was discovered near the 5-mile marker on I-430 after being struck by a vehicle.

That marker gives investigators a specific point along the roadway, but Arkansas State Police have not said whether the woman was walking, standing, or otherwise present in the lane area before impact. They also have not released the victim’s name.

For now, the confirmed facts are limited to the time, the roadway, and the fatal outcome. State police have not offered a more detailed account of the events leading up to the collision.

Police identify a suspected driver but make no arrest

Arkansas State Police said a suspected driver has been identified in connection with the crash. Even so, no arrest has been made and no charges have been filed as of the latest update.

That leaves the case in an early investigative stage. Police have not said what evidence led them to identify the driver, and they have not disclosed whether impairment, speed, or another factor is being considered.

In fatal traffic investigations, identification does not automatically mean an arrest will follow right away. The agency has only confirmed that the person remains a suspected driver at this point.

Early morning timing leaves many questions unanswered

The crash happened in the early hours of Monday morning, a detail that can matter in traffic investigations because visibility and traffic patterns are often different before sunrise. Police have not given the exact time of the collision.

They also have not said whether any other vehicles were involved or whether the woman was alone on the interstate when she was hit. No information has been released about weather, road conditions, or whether the area had any lighting issues.

Because the collision occurred before the morning commute, the roadway may have been quieter than it would be later in the day. Still, investigators have not linked timing to any specific cause.

Arkansas State Police continue fatal crash investigation

State police are the lead agency on the case, and their investigation will likely focus on how the woman came to be struck on the interstate and what role the vehicle played in the crash.

At this stage, police have not announced whether troopers are seeking witnesses or asking the public for help. They also have not said when additional findings might be released.

The public information so far shows a fatal pedestrian-involved collision on a major Arkansas interstate, with one woman dead and a suspected driver known to investigators but still not in custody.

What is known so far about the fatal I-430 crash

Officials have confirmed only a small set of facts: a 36-year-old woman was struck and killed near the 5-mile marker on I-430, the crash happened in the early morning hours Monday, and a suspected driver has been identified.

Everything else remains open as Arkansas State Police sort through the case. They have not released the woman’s identity, the identity of the suspected driver, or the circumstances that led to the deadly impact.

For drivers using the interstate, the case is another reminder that even short stretches of roadway can turn dangerous quickly, especially when investigators are still trying to reconstruct what happened before the collision.
