Extreme Heat Warning Blankets Louisiana Along With Parts of Texas Arkansas and Mississippi as Dangerous Conditions Grip the Entire Gulf Coast Region

LOUISIANA — An Extreme Heat Warning covers essentially all of Louisiana today, along with portions of neighboring Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi, as dangerously hot conditions grip the broader Gulf Coast region. The warning stretches from Shreveport through New Orleans, covering the entire state from top to bottom. Surrounding areas, including Oklahoma City, Dallas, and Fort Worth, remain under a Heat Advisory as high heat continues to expand across the South.

Extreme Heat Warning Covers the Entire State of Louisiana

The Extreme Heat Warning zone extends across all of Louisiana, including Shreveport, Jackson, and New Orleans, marking one of the most widespread extreme heat warnings of the season so far.

Portions of eastern Texas and southern Arkansas are also included within the warning zone, extending the most dangerous heat risk well beyond Louisiana’s borders.

Surrounding States Remain Under a Broader Heat Advisory

Areas surrounding the extreme heat zone, including Oklahoma City, Little Rock, and Memphis, remain under a Heat Advisory, reflecting slightly less extreme but still dangerous conditions.

Cities including Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Birmingham are also included within the broader advisory zone as high heat continues to affect a wide swath of the South.

Residents Urged to Take Heat Safety Seriously

With an Extreme Heat Warning in place across the region, residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors and family members.

Conditions are expected to remain dangerous through the day, with heat index values reaching levels capable of causing heat-related illness quickly without proper precautions.
