Lexington Teen Killed in Highway 22A Crash Near Poorhouse Lane as School Community Mourns After Log Truck and Passenger Vehicle Collide

LEXINGTON, TN — A Lexington teen was killed Thursday afternoon in a crash involving a log truck and a passenger vehicle on Highway 22A near Poorhouse Lane, according to local school posts and comments circulating online. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has not yet released an official crash summary, and the names of those involved have not been made public.

Even without a formal report, the wreck has already sent shock waves through Henderson County. Lexington High School and Henderson County Schools both said one of their students was a victim. Community members, school teams and local leaders have since been posting condolences and prayers for the family and for the town.

Crash scene left visible damage near the church lawn

The collision happened around 3 p.m. Thursday on Highway 22A near Poorhouse Lane. Photos and posts shared online describe deep gashes in the roadway and spray-painted symbols marking the area after the wreck.

The lawn of the Restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was also badly scarred, apparently from the force of one or both vehicles. The visible damage underscores how hard the impact was at the site, though authorities have not said exactly how the crash unfolded.

Tennessee Highway Patrol has not released names or fault details

For now, the Tennessee Highway Patrol has not issued an official news release about the crash. That means key questions remain unanswered, including who died, whether anyone else was hurt and which vehicle may have caused the collision.

Officials also have not said whether investigators believe the log truck, the passenger vehicle or another factor led to the wreck. Until a formal report is released, the available information comes mainly from school statements and online reaction from people in the area.

Lexington High School and Henderson County Schools confirm a student was involved

Lexington High School and Henderson County Schools posted statements saying the crash claimed one of their students. Those messages did not identify the student, but they confirmed that the loss reached directly into the school community.

That confirmation has made the tragedy especially personal for classmates, teachers and parents in the area. Schools and sports teams across the region have shared messages of grief, reflecting how quickly news of the wreck spread through Henderson County.

Local teams and residents share condolences after the Thursday wreck

In the hours after the crash, social media filled with condolences for Lexington and the student’s family. Local schools and sports programs posted expressions of sadness as residents responded to what many described as a devastating loss.

Those public messages have become part of the community response while the official investigation continues. For many people in the area, the posts were a first sign that the crash had turned fatal and involved a young student from town.

Mayor asks for prayers as Henderson County waits for updates

Henderson County’s mayor also turned to Facebook to ask followers for prayers for the community. That response reflects the broader concern now surrounding the wreck, especially because so few official details have been released so far.

For now, the crash remains under review, and the biggest unanswered questions center on the victims, the sequence of events and the cause. Local institutions are left mourning while waiting for the Tennessee Highway Patrol to provide its next update.

Local news that matters, from Dulaney Griffin.
