NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A New Brunswick man was seriously hurt after two cars crashed head-on early Sunday on Jersey Avenue, and city police are still trying to determine exactly what led to the collision.
Authorities say the crash happened shortly before 2:47 a.m. on Sept. 20 near Triangle Road. Officers responding to the 911 call found a Toyota Corolla and a Honda Accord that had collided in the roadway.
Both drivers were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where they remained for treatment. Police have not released any other details about the circumstances that put the cars into the same lane of travel.
Investigators identify two New Brunswick drivers involved in the crash
According to New Brunswick police and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, the vehicles involved were a 2009 Toyota Corolla and a 2017 Honda Accord. The Corolla was driven by a 26-year-old New Brunswick man, and the Accord was driven by a 25-year-old New Brunswick man.
Officials said the Corolla driver suffered serious injuries. The Accord driver was treated for minor injuries. Neither agency has released the men’s names.
