FRANKFORT, IL — A 2-year-old child was found dead inside a Frankfort home Tuesday after police responded to a call about an unresponsive child, according to the Frankfort Police Department.
Officers arrived shortly before 4 p.m. and found CPR already being performed. The child was taken to a hospital but later died, police said. Investigators also found the child’s mother at the home and said she was “attempting self-harm.” She was taken to a hospital with injuries police described as not life-threatening.
Police say the death appears to be domestic-related homicide
In a news release posted Wednesday, police said a preliminary investigation points to a “domestic-related homicide.” Authorities did not give further details about what led them to that conclusion.
The department did not say how the child died, and it did not say whether anyone had been charged. Police also did not release the names of the child or the mother.
