Leader Heidi Giesler and club-member Kimberly Hernandez share what makes Dulaney High School’s (DHS) Educators Rising club worth attending.
Educators Rising has come to Dulaney High School (DHS) as a newly added club this year. The nationwide organization has become a great resource for DHS students interested in entering the education field.
Scheduled meeting dates, typically Fridays after school in room 204, are announced on the club’s Instagram account, @educatorsrisingdhs.
“It’s less presentation-style and more conversation-based…during our meetings it doesn’t feel like anyone is above another,” said Giesler.
DHS Educators Rising works toward offering opportunities for student-development and leadership.
“Educators Rising makes sure that it’s not just about school education, it can really be about teaching anything,” said club-member Kimberly Hernandez.
The club researches potential colleges or post-graduation programs that offer opportunities in the education field. Along with conducting research, club members speak in groups about their opinions on DHS’ current education and what can be improved.
“My favorite part about the club is being able to connect with others that have similar interests and goals as me…it’s a really encouraging place,” said Giesler.
DHS Educators Rising hopes to provide future opportunities for students to help out at local elementary schools, along with the opportunity to participate in Read To Me, where students read books to children with disabilities at local libraries.
