Officers responded after Black Hawk County Consolidated Dispatch received a 911 call at about 10:14 a.m. reporting a deceased person in the 1000 block of West Third Street.
When officers arrived, they found Cannon’s body and signs that gunshots had been fired. Police said the case is being treated as a homicide investigation, and they have not said publicly what led up to the shooting.
