TOWN OF PRIMROSE, WI — Officials have identified the two men who died in a crash Monday evening in the Town of Primrose. The Dane County Medical Examiner said both victims were killed at the scene after a two-vehicle collision near State Highway 92 and Spring Rose Road.
Authorities said the crash involved one vehicle that crossed the center line and struck the other head-on. Each vehicle had one person inside.
The scene was severe enough that one vehicle was fully engulfed when crews arrived, while the other suffered significant damage.
Victims identified by county medical examiner
The Dane County Medical Examiner identified the men as Maxwell J. Parman, 21, of New Glarus, and Adam V. Schultz, 44, of Barneveld. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary examinations determined that each man died from injuries suffered in the crash. Officials have not released any additional details about the conditions of the vehicles’ occupants beyond the identification and cause of death.
The medical examiner’s office is working with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office on the investigation.
Crash reported near State Highway 92 and Spring Rose Road
The collision was reported at 5:49 p.m. Monday at the intersection area near State Highway 92 and Spring Rose Road. Responders found a serious scene with fire damage to one vehicle and heavy damage to the other.
According to investigators, the initial finding is that one vehicle drifted across the center line before the impact. That left both vehicles with only one occupant each and resulted in both deaths at the scene.
Authorities have not said what may have caused the vehicle to cross the line.
Road closed for five hours during investigation
The crash and the investigation forced a five-hour closure of the road. That closure kept the area blocked while deputies and medical examiners documented the scene and gathered evidence.
The length of the shutdown reflects how seriously the collision affected the roadway and the vehicles involved. No timeline has been given for when the investigation will be completed.
Officials said the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office are still investigating what happened.
